Does Realme c55 Really Live up to the Hype

Realme was trying to give their C-series a fresh look, so they launched a new version in their lineup called Realme C55. This smartphone has a unique design, powerful performance, and cutting-edge features such as fast charging, camera modes, and a mini capsule on display. It’s a pleasure to see that Realme is using such an excellent fast-charging solution, and you can get it with your phone. The only thing we consider missing on such an entry-level smartphone is some splash-resistant or water-repellent coating. Only a handful of phones in this price range offer such protection, so we won’t hold it against the Realme C55.In this review of the Realme C55, we’ll examine the features, specs, design, and performance of the Realme C55 to see whether it lives up to its promises.

Realme C55 Design

The Realme C55 is primarily built of plastic, but it’s a solid and grippy build. The Realme C55 has a trendy flat design with flat panels and a flat frame. The Realme C55 has a glass front, although the manufacturer has not provided any specifics on its brand. All of them are plastic except for the back panel, frame, and camera rings. There’s a 6.72-inch IPS LCD screen at the front, and the bezels are reasonable. The punch-hole perforation is centered at the top, and the 8MP selfie camera is here. This phone is available in two colors: Sun Shower and Rainy Night.

Realme C55 Performance

The Realme C55 has a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. This chipset helps to run fast and smoothly, and also, apps open and close very quickly without any issues. This smartphone has 4GB, 6GB and 8GB Ram and 64 GB and 128GB onboard storage, providing many essential storages. With more new features like dynamic Ram, you can expand the Ram up to 16GB, which helps run games and intensive apps smoothly.  We have only slightly lower results when it comes to gaming. Call of Duty: Mobile played very well at medium graphics quality and reasonable frame rates, but it would take about 15 minutes to play as the phone overheats. Asphalt 9 Legends was too heavy, even at the lowest graphics setting (Performance), with lots of lag and stuttering.

Realme C55 Display

Realme C55 offers a 6.72-inch FHD+ resolution display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The realme c55 is the first smartphone in the C series, offering a 90Hz refresh rate. The output is also reasonably good, with a 180Hz touch sampling rate and 680 nits brightness. The actual screen resolution offered is 2,400 x 1,080 pixels or 392ppi. The Realme C55’s display supports DCIP3 color space, and overall color accuracy is pretty good. There’s a hint of blue as usual, but you can reduce it by choosing a warmer color temperature using a dedicated slider in the display options. This display is not the brightest and sharpest on the market, but it’s working at a price of less than INR 10,000.

Realme C55 Camera

The Realme C55 offers a 64-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor which you can use to get depth data when using Portrait mode. For the front camera, they have 8-megapixel. The quality of the daylight image was, nevertheless, surprisingly good. There was a decent dynamic range and good detail in the photographs. The colors were a little too saturated, and the photos had a slight bluish tinge, but it’s hard to complain at this price point.

Closeups showed a sharp, clear view, with low noise and good detail. The selfies seemed sharpened in daylight but held decent pieces and dynamic range. This segment’s edge detection in Portrait mode was average while using the selfie camera. Even in dim light, selfies seemed soft and noisy, regardless of my chosen method. The detection of edges has also failed to be accurate.

Realme C55 Battery

A 5000mAh battery pack is available in the Realme C55, which allows it to last up to a day with light usage easily. That included making phone calls, texting, emails, clicking photographs, looking at social media, and listening to music. They’ll have to charge a fee at the end of the day for heavy users who spend hours playing video games and watching videos. Inside this box is an adapter for a 33W fast charger. About half an hour later, the adapter charges 50% and takes more than an hour to charge 100%. The speed of the charger might be slow, but you can’t buy it at this price point.

Realme C55 Software

Realme C55 runs a realme user interface version 4.0 on Android 13 from the box. The new Aquamorph theme is the most significant improvement in Realme UI 4.0, offering a fresh and modern take on Android. Across both Oppo and OnePlus, this theme is also available. There is also a new software product called Mini Capsule, which takes over from Apple’s Dynamic Island on the C55 model.

CONCLUSION

For the 4GB RAM variant, the Realme C55 price in India is fixed at INR 10,999; the 6 GB or 8 GB variants are set at INR 11,999 and INR 13,999, respectively, respectively. The device’s sleek design is equipped with a powerful chipset, 64MP camera, Android 13 operating system, and a Mini Capsule. Although, in some cases, it lags a little bit in the brightness level of the display and also has a useless 2MP lens, these will seem like minor niggles when you consider the broader picture for this price point. It’s not a phone designed for players, but casual games work. If you don’t need these features but can use a subpar portrait mode, an inflexible fingerprint scanner, bloatware, and advertising software, Realme C55 will be all right for you.
